SEP Information Sciences

Overview

One of the great challenges of Information Science is the transformation of information into knowledge. In this SEP new approaches and novel methods are being developed to manage, disseminate and process information content, a venture involving researchers of various backgrounds (information scientists, engineers, social scientists, etc.) representing different schools (ETH, University of Zurich, USI). Information Science also creates the instruments for interaction among universities (e-science, e-learning), a track that is of particular relevance in this project.

In the information science area, the SEP program supports a cluster of eight research projects (five with a focus on information spaces and three with a focus on information technology) and three summer schools/workshops.
