Inter-Disciplinary Doctoral Summer School: 29 August to 4 September 2002: "Information Environments: Analysis and Design"
The first interdisciplinary summer school took place in August 2002 at ETH Zürich. Sixteen participants from Algeria, Austria, Germany, Italy, Romania, Tunesia, Ukraine, Vietnam, and Switzerland worked in project groups to examine and develop new possibilities of support for the access, recording and retrieval of tourist information. A picture gallery will soon be availabe on the web. The project central to the summer school was the group project undertaken by students. The project involved field studies, data analysis, a requirements specification and the conceptual design of a system based on an emerging technology – digitally augmented paper. The focus of the project was to consider ways in which new technologies could be used to support various forms of tourist activities.
